Bread and Butter Bakery to open on Memorial Drive and other dining news from the week - Atlanta Journal Constitution

These are the stories that created a buzz on the metro Atlanta dining scene this week:

•Covington cafe Bread and Butter Bakery is slated to open a location in 2021 in The Wilbur development coming to 1072 Memorial Drive, What Now Atlanta reports. 

The business will occupy a 2,000 square-foot space and will offer baked goods, in-house roasted coffee and prepared food throughout the day.

In addition to its original Covington location, Bread and Butter also opened a shop inside Marietta Square Market earlier this year.

•Takorea is closing its original Midtown location at 818 Juniper St. NE after dinner service on Dec. 22. The closure was announced on the restaurant’s Facebook page.

To all of our loyal Midtown customers:

We regret to inform you that this Sunday December 22nd will be our last day of operation at our Midtown location. We have enjoyed serving you for the last 8+ years and hope you can come by for a visit this week. In the future come see us at our “upper westside” location (Hankook Taqueria), or our Dunwoody location to satisfy your craving for our world famous sesame fries and takos.

We have determined that our business works best in a fast casual setting where we can provide friendly, fresh and unique flavors at an affordable price. Our current Midtown location just didn’t support that model. We hope to have news in the coming months about future locations where you can enjoy our great food with friends in a fast casual setting. Until then we wish you happy holidays and a blessed new year!

A location in Dunwoody and sister eatery Hankook Taqueria in West Midtown remain open.

•Other metro Atlanta restaurant closures include Condesa Coffee, which closed its Sweet Auburn location earlier this month; and Bada Bing’s, which is closing after service Dec. 29 in the Pencil Factory Lofts in the Sweet Auburn neighborhood The restaurant and bar’s lease is up after eight years and ownership is looking for a new location to reopen.
