East Dallas has a new bakery with plenty of sweet treats, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Leila Bakery & Cafe opened Thursday at 6041 Oram St. in the space that was once Jack’s Kitchen. Chef Kelly Ball announced she was opening a storefront at the location in November, shortly after Jack’s closed.
The bakery is known for kolaches and other baked goods, which Ball sold as the Naturally Curly Cook at Good Local Markets. The eatery’s signature items are deep-dish quiches and pies whose crusts measure 3 inches high, according to CultureMap.
Other menu items include bread pudding, croissants, scones, cookies and muffins in unusual flavors like strawberry and blueberry streusel. Or try one of the unique pie flavors, such as gingerbread pear pie or gingerbread pumpkin pie.
The plan is to eventually sell soups, sandwiches and salads.
